Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship Program 
The Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships program is delivered to retain world-class doctoral students by providing them financial aids to assist them during their studies.The scholarship program offers an understudy with a value of $50,000 each year for three years.
Criteria: 

  • The student must nominate with the Vanier CGS quota by a Canadian University to pursue their Ph.D.
  • Have not already received a scholarship or fellowship from SSHRC, NSERC or CIHR to undertake or complete a doctoral degree or combined masters/Ph.D. degree;
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or international student eligible for nomination for a Vanier CGS.  

Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships:  The Postdoctoral Fellowships offered for international students pursuing postgraduate study in natural and social sciences or health sciences. The annual value for the scholarship program is $70,000 per year for two years. 
Criteria: 
There is no such rule for the fellowship program only is that a student is a Canadian citizen, permanent resident of Canada, or an international citizen.

IDRC Research Awards: These scholarships are for students who are from developing countries who are already studying at a Canadian University to undertake a master's or doctoral-level research degree. The amount of value is approx. Twenty awards, which is a maximum of CA$20,000 each. 
Criteria: 

  • The student must be the citizen or permanent resident of Canada but except countries in Southern and Eastern Europe, the South Caucasus, and Central Asia (including Afghanistan). 
  • A student needs enrollment at a Canadian University at a doctoral level.
  • The thesis supervisor must approve the research purpose of the student. 

 
NSERC Postgraduate scholarships
The NSERC Postgraduate Scholarships – Doctoral (PGS D) program offers financial help to students who are engaged in an eligible doctoral program in the natural sciences or engineering.

  •  $45,000 per year for two years: Students must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada, and they must hold a doctorate in one of the fields of research which NSERC supports. 

 
Non-Governmental Scholarships: Given below is the list of some Non-Governmental Scholarships for international students. 

Anne Vallee Ecological fund: 
The scholarship program is for international students pursuing animal research at the doctoral level at a Canadian University in Quebec or British Columbia. The approx. The value of the scholarship program is $1,500 annually. Be a citizen of Canada or a permanent resident of Canada or any international student.  

Canada Memorial Scholarship:  The Canada Memorial Foundation was created to honor Canadian soldiers who served with Britain in WW1 and WW2. It offers scholarships to British students who wish to pursue postgraduate studies in Canada. These awards are tenable for one year only.
Requirement: Only citizens of Britain who obtained or about to get a first or upper second class Honors degree are eligible. This program does not support doctorate studies.

Trudeau Scholarships and Fellowships: The Trudeau Foundation offers several scholarships to international students at doctoral level undertaking study in Canada at selected institutions.

  • Value: The amount for the scholarship program is $40,000 per year for three years and also $20,000 annually for research and travel allowance. 
  • Eligibility: Students need to present a research project linked to one of the four themes of the foundation.
